1. Set Up a Plan

The best way to avoid any type of miscommunication or mishap is by setting up a clear plan with your kids before school starts. Make sure they are clear on how and when they will get to school each day, as well as what they will be expected to do when school is over. They should know what time they need to leave, what route to take to school or to the bus stop, and how to exit and enter the house safely. The more details you spell out ahead of time, the more they will be prepared if something doesn’t go according to plan.

2. Consider Lock Alternatives

Between gym shoes and homework and school projects, making sure your kids have everything they need to take to school each day can feel like a full-time job. That’s why our team recommends considering lock alternatives, so your kids won’t need to keep track of a set of keys. Work with a professional locksmith or do some research on high-tech locks that can use a code or even a fingerprint to open. This way, your kids will be able to get inside your home and you won’t have to worry about potential lost keys floating around the school.

This way, you’ll be able to see when your kids come and go each day, even if you aren’t home at the time.
