Locksmith Emergency vs. 911 Emergency

Typically, getting locked out of your home or car is just an inconvenience that can be easily handled by a locksmith. At A1 Lock and Key, we even have 24/7 emergency locksmith services so you can get back inside quickly at any time of the day or night. However, in a true emergency, when someone may be in danger, you should call 911 instead of a locksmith. Today we’re discussing three situations where you should call 911 before you contact us!

1. Children Locked in a Car

Any time there is a child involved, the situation is more serious. If you've accidentally locked a child in the car and it is a hot or even mildly warm day, call 911. The interior of a vehicle can become too hot much more quickly than you'd expect, especially if the sun is shining. Also, even if it isn't a hot day, children could easily injure themselves while locked inside a car. Call 911 in this situation, and then talk to the child calmly while you wait for help to arrive.

2. Children Locked in the House

If your children are accidentally locked inside the house, the age of the children may be a deciding factor in whether or not the situation constitutes an emergency. However, if they are small children that could get hurt or into potentially dangerous substances, you should call 911 instead of an emergency locksmith. You know your children and their ages, so act accordingly, but remember, it's better to be safe than sorry.

3. Your House Has Been Broken Into

If the locks on your home have been damaged or compromised and you suspect burglary, your first call should be 911. Even if you think the burglar has moved on, the police will need to inspect your home to be sure. Once your home is deemed safe and a police report has been filed, then you can call on us to repair or replace your locks.

At A1 Lock and Key, we care about the safety and wellbeing of our clients above all else, so when in doubt, call 911 first and then us! We provide residential, automotive, and commercial locksmith services to the residents of Indianapolis and the surrounding communities. Contact us today at (317) 775-0332.
